Canadian Chemistry Education Collaborative Catalogue

Welcome to Eh Chem Ed!
About this Website
Eh Chem Ed is a collaborative digital archive dedicated to capturing the people, places, events, and initiatives that shape Canadian Chemistry Education—past, present, and future. We invite users to contribute stories, images, documents, audio, and links to help build a living archive that celebrates the impact and evolution of chemistry education in Canada.
About this Initiative
Across Canada, passionate individuals and organizations are advancing the field of chemistry through advocacy, innovation, and education. This initiative began with the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC), its annual conference, the CSC Education Division, and the Women and Friends in Chemistry (WaFiC) event.
Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour (1939–2019) was a pioneering chemist, educator, and advocate whose legacy continues to shape the landscape of science in Canada and beyond. Renowned for her groundbreaking work in hazardous chemical waste management, she was equally celebrated for her unwavering commitment to equity and inclusion in STEM.
The Women in Chemistry and Friends Networking Dinner is proudly organized by the CIC Women in Chemistry and Friends Group through the Chem Ed Division, and is dedicated to fostering the participation and advancement of women in the chemical sciences.
Our mission is to create an inclusive and supportive environment where women—especially those early in their careers—can connect, grow, and thrive. We warmly invite young women chemists to attend our annual event, expand their networks, and find inspiration among peers and mentors.
Our group also includes many male and gender diverse allies who are passionate advocates for gender equity in science. Together, we are building a stronger, more diverse chemical community.
Since 2019, the WaFiC Dinner has featured an oral history that honors Dr. Armour and the event’s evolving legacy. Our first campaign focuses on collecting Memories and Impacts of Margaret-Ann Armour and the Annual WaFiC Dinner.
Beyond the Conference
So much happens outside the CSC Conference, and we recognize that not everyone can attend. That’s why we encourage contributions from anyone to highlight any and all aspects that reflect Chemistry Education interests in Canada — whether it is a conference talk, meeting, field trip, professional milestone achievements, social media connections, new or helpful resources, and future opportunities, and beyond. Every story matters.

First time to meet wonderful people
This is my first event and I’m introverted person. However, I plan with my best mood to come and meet new and amazing people to share histories and knowledge. I enjoyed a lot.
My Women in STEM Mentor as an Undergraduate Student
As an undergraduate student in chemical biology, attending my first CSC conference was something I really looked forward to. I’m proud to be a student with Dr. Sharonna Greenberg at McMaster University. She is a remarkable professor who has quite significantly changed the undergraduate learning experience at this institution. I’ve been grateful to work with…
Photo-bombing with Alison Flynn and Steve McNeil
At my first Margaret-Ann Armour dinner, I photo-bombed a picture with Alison Flynn and Steve McNeil (+W, -A). It was an awesome, welcoming event and I was very grateful for making me feel like a part of the community.
